February was the start of a new school term in Uganda and Learnwell Initiative UG took time to give the children in its schools (Kyeswa Memorial Primary School and St. Mary’s Nursery and Primary School) of intervention a fun skill. According to the Director Learnwell Initiative UG the skills was not just for fun but held potential to be turned into a commercial activity. The Ag. Head Teacher of Kyeswa Memorial Primary School appreciated the activity urging Learnwell Initiative UG to continue supporting the school.
In her book ‘How to Develop Self Esteem in Your Child Bettie Young ‘ identified goal setting as one of the tools. Learnwell Initiative UG using goal setting for children as one of the tools to enhance their esteem, focus and planning. It is in this regard that the organization supported Kyeswa Memorial Primary School and St. Mary’s Nursery and Primary Schools to undertake this activity in February 2026. Children from class 4 to 7 set goals some citing they planned to be smart through the year or have improved grades. The goals set were handed over to teachers in the schools to track progress and a function to recognize children who meet their targets is planned for October 2026.
